Surfing Tips

Hi Today I am going to give you some tips that are proved by many people that had helped them  to became a awesome surfer  :D . To achieve this they follow the following steps:
First of all try to maintain a good balance point a good tip to do so is to lay on your board then make a mark right at your chin. Selon experts this spot is best made with a bit of wax or a magic marker. This is a reference point that enables you to put your chin on the same spot every time, so the board will react to your weight the same way every time. You must be careful so the board's nose doesn´t digs into the water by moving the location of "your chin" back. To adjust, just slide back an inch from the mark and make a mental note. Too much weight in the back and the board will cork. This is a common mistake amongst beginners. You cannot catch a wave if you are corking your board. Move up an inch at a time till the board lies in the water naturally. This will provide you with the maximum hull speed and minimum drag from the water displacement that you are causing with your weight.
Do not paddle with both arms simultaneously because this will cause the board to speed up and slow down in the water and you will not be able to maintain constant hull speed through the water. Always paddle with the crawl stroke...one arm and then the other alternatively. This will provide you with a constant speed so you can catch that wave.
In order to stand up on the board it is recommended to lie on your chest, put your head up, and look ahead. Put your hands on the board beside your shoulders, palms down like you were going to do a push up. Push your upper body up and at the same time sweep your feet under you. Make sure your feet are laying on the stringer, the line down the middle of the board. This move keeps your weight centered along the stringer.
When you come up, remember to keep low. If you stand erect you will fall. Assume a position of a sumo wrestler. Press your feet shoulder width apart and "grip the board in your feet", opposite of the way you would press your thighs together on a horse. Have your hands a bit higher than your waist and just in view of your vision. Always look up! If you look at your feet, you will fall down.

Safety Tips:

Never have your board between yourself and the coming waves! To avoid collision with others, keep a safe distance, say fifteen feet or the length of you, your leash and board combined. Beginners should always wear a leash or leg rope tied to their surfboard.
Every Beginner surfboard should also have a safety nose guard to prevent dangerous impacts with the surfboard nose.
Beginners should always surf with a buddy for safety, plus it is cool to share your surf experiences with.
Never push your board through the water fin first. The fin or fins were made to keep the board pointing nose first. Pushing the board fins first can be quite dangerous because the board wants to go the other direction.
Beginner surfers should consider wearing a vest, rash guard or tee shirt to avoid the rubbed rash they will get on their stomach and chest.
When you fall off your board, cover the back of your head with your hands.

Finally you need to practice, practice and practice to be calm and controlled is the smoothest way to approach this...so practice doing it quietly. If you have a surfboard, lay it on a large bed or in the sand and do this exercise. This is a way for you to judge your ability to be controlled.

Have you ever seen surfing a mice ?

Hi Today I am going to talk to you about an interesting new that I found at the internet that talks about a rat doing surf in Hawaii! Do you believe that can be possible?  In the pictures shown below it looks like a casual rat but clinging to his very own surfboard, this is simply a pet exploring his wild side. Tofu, as he is known and his 14-year-old owner hit the waves twice a week at their local beach in Hawaii.
It is really impressive because the teenager built a surfboard for his rats. Selon the new the owner spent weeks teaching them to hold on until they can now handle full tube waves in Hawaii he threat the rat as he was an human being, with this it is actually said that the rats balance is even better than most human surfers” Did you can imagine? Isn´t that really impressive to think about a rat doing this kind of stuff?
The owners started their training by gently pushing the rats into tiny ripples at the water's edge before moving them on to more advanced waves. Both the rats can swim and, after some early tumbles, can now perform tricks - often catching tubes in front of stunned onlookers. It is said that the rats started surfing when one of the owners decide to go to wash his rat to the beach, but he never expected that the rats will enjoy the beach that much. It was so much his impression that he was obligated to return more often.

Surf rats have their own special diet to stay in shape. high protein, low carbohydrate foods. Rats are natural swimmers and have a very adventurous spirit.
I haven´t heard of such a thing before. In my opinion I believe that learning a rat to surf it is impossible, because surf is considered one of the most difficult sports to achieve even for a human being who is bigger, more intelligent and somehow have previous knowledge about surf stuff I think that I will only believe it if I see it with my eyes .  What do you think about it?

An example of a rat surfing can be seen in the next video:

Where you can go to surf in Mexico?

Hi! During this week I was searching about the different parts where you can go and surf without getting out of Mexico. Well first of all Mexico has approximately 9,330 kilometers of coastline, where the best surfing breaks and wave action are found on the Pacific side. This stretch of coast is covered with beach breaks, point breaks, reefs and river mouths, affording an enormous variety of prime surfing spots all up and down it’s extension, and waves of all types, many of the more accessible surf spots can get crowded, both with local surfers and those coming in from foreign parts, but the benefit is that here in Mexico you still have a lot of remote surf spots where you can get in the water and have plenty of space for just your own.
The Mexican Pacific has very favorable surf spots in Baja California, Sinaloa, Nayarit, Jalisco, Colima, Michoacan, Guerrero, Oaxaca and Chiapas, with many of them being in the high-performance range. There’s at least one good surf spot near almost any major vacation destination such as Mazatlan, Puerto Vallarta, Manzanillo, Ixtapa, Acapulco or Huatulco.
South-facing beaches along the Mexico Pacific coast gets surf generated, for the most part, from storms off New Zealand and Antarctica. The best time for this wave action is from May through October. West-facing beaches tend to get better surf action from Arctic storms during the winter months, from December through March. With this we can see that we don´t need to go so far to watch a surf practice or give it a try. :)

Surf Contests

Hi guys this week I am going to talk about the Surf Contests, like I already said in older posts, surf is practiced regionally and internationally by many countries of the world like: Europe, México, USA, Australia, Brazil etc. Some of the most famous places in the surf world are: The Arugman Bay, a small fishing village recently known to some die hard surfers by the consistent swell, long runs, shark free, the average wave height is about  3–4 Meters and the Mavericks — "The Wave Beyond" — in California which inspires hardcore athletes to face the power of Mother Nature, and stirs the souls of all those who aspire to challenge their own limits and achieve the extraordinary surf Ventures, in this places surfing goes on all year long and although in the summer months are the largest crowds to watch the events, the surfing is often better during the winter months (Sep - March).  From San Diego's surfing beaches such as  Santa Cruz's Steamer Lane, you'll find the surfing is great and the top surfers from around the globe come to California to try it out. Among the styles and surfers, there are many types of boards, types of competitions and specialized categories.  It's fun to watch the action but I think it will be even better to participate and if it is your first time it exist some competitions that are open to novice surfers and beginners. Pictured in the surfing photo above is the largest surfing event in California known as The US Open of Surfing and Beach Games which by the years had grown from a surfing event to a festival with booths, vendors, concerts and extreme sports competitions.

In a surf competition the contestants get into randomly chosen heats, each heat goes out and each person is marked for each of their waves out of ten, ten being the perfect grade, once the competitor is standing up it starts to be counted as a wave who executes the most radical maneuvers generating power and speed through the biggest and best wave for the longest distance will receive the highest score, at the end of the session, the best 3 waves get added up and they put you in 1st 2nd 3rd etc. if you come 1st/2nd you go through to the next round with the other finalists and it carries on in the same way until their is only one winner.

Inside the surf competitions exist some penalities that are:

·         If a judge thinks an interference has taken place, the judge shall triangle the
ride of the offending competitor and draw an arrow to the ride of the competitor
who was interfered with.  In the case of a paddling interference, the triangle shall be placed on the line between the appropriate rides for the offending competitor and filled with P. I. (no ride/no score) and the arrow still drawn. P.I. will receive at least a 2.5 deduction from their total score.

·         If any four of six judges, including the head judge, or 3 of 5 scoring judge rule interference, the tabulators shall give the offending competitor a score of 50% for the ride on each of the judge’s sheets and that score will count as one of the rides tabulated for the offending competitor. It is the responsibility of each competitor to keep track of their wave count.Officials, judges, and other administrators are discouraged from assisting competitors, coaches, friends, or any others in keeping track of individual’s wave counts.

Announce interference calls immediately.

a.  All attempts should be made to consistently inform surfer upon majority decision of interference calls.

b.  Head judge informs Competition/Contest Director, then notifies announcer of decision.  Head judge may notifyannouncer directly if Competition or Contest Director is not readily available.

c.  Announcer Verbiage: “Blue interference on White.

I believe that surf is a hard sport and you have to dedicate a lot of time on it but In fact there are very few penalities in surf competitions I don´t think that this penalities mentioned previously are so difficult to achieve and to follow them, after the information given in this blog what did you think about giving it a try??  :)
